🖥 Polyvinyl band Alvvays performed Belinda Says, which was crowned Pitchfork's #1 song of the year a few weeks ago, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this week, accompanied by a string quartet:
🎧 Ring snuten just released a new single, En kille och en tjej:
🎧 Joyful Noise announced that the new (13th!) album by instrumental duo El Ten Eleven, Valley of Fire, is being released on February 10th. You can pre order it here.
🎧 Royal Mountain announced the eighth album by U.S. Girls, the nom de plume of North American multi-disciplinary and experimental pop artist Meg Remy. Bless This Mess is released on 24th February and you can listen to Futures Bet, the latest single from it, now:
They also announced Five Easy Hot Dogs, a collection of instrumental recordings from Mac Demarco, which you can pre-order here
🖥 Suicide Squeeze released the second single Sunday from Death Valley Girls’ upcoming LP Islands in the Sky (out February 24th). Watch the music video (directed by Arturo Baston) below:
🎧 Fire Talk released the new single God by Fran, which she says is about “noticing how things change and how they stay the same.” You can pre-order the album it’s lifted from, Leaving, here and listen to the “gorgeous and arresting” (Stereogum) new song below:
🎧 ZZK Records put out Let’s Get Maui'd, the second single from the upcoming Jackie Mendoza album Galaxia de Emociones, which was written and produced alongside Rusty Santos (Animal Collective, Panda Bear) in the early stages of the pandemic. You can listen here:
🎧 Kill Rock Stars put out the lovely second single I’m Not OK by recent signee Elliott Fullam, who starred in last year’s gross-out slasher Terrifier 2. You can listen to the song, recorded in his bedroom in New Jersey, below:
🎧 Spartan Records are releasing Knapsack’s three full-length albums on vinyl in the US for the first time since their original release over 25 years ago, as well as an exclusive limited edition box set (300 copies only!) that includes the retrospective art book This Version of Truth. 🎧 Double Double Whammy are putting out a new pressing of Hatchie’s debut album Keepsake, which you can pre-order here.
🎧 Polyvinyl favourite Jeff Rosenstock’s album POST celebrated its fifth birthday. It was written in the days following the 2017 Presidential inauguration and recorded in a one-week, 86-hour marathon recording session before getting surprise-released on New Year's Day 2018. 🎤 On 18th Jan NonClassical are hosting their annual battle of the bands at MOTH Club in London. “One of the most thrilling nights in the contemporary classical calendar”, it will feature sets from Anders Waller, Alex Lyon and Hannah Thomas, Julia Set, Kemal Yusuf, KOGG, Recycled Materials Trio and Vulva Voce.
