In the week where the soundtrack to Barbie became the first to simultaneously land three top 5 singles in the U.K. (with six songs from it in the Top 40), you, as usual, released lots of great music.

🎧 Polyvinyl released the new Chris Farren record Doom Singer today, which Paste Magazine called his tightest release yet, noting that the track Cosmic Leash “…is an early shoe-in for one of 2023’s best songs” (and has one of our fav music videos of the year too). Listen here

🎧 Raw Tapes released Help With Your Heart by Jimi Prasad Orchestra, a record that’s “timeless, cosmic and classical-influenced; rooted in ambient jazz; meditation music for the masses sleeping through their waking lives”. Check it out here

🎧 ZZK Records released the new Luiza Lian record 7 Estrelas | quem arrancou o céu? (7 Stars | Who ripped the sky down?) - stream/download it here

🎧 Get Better Records released Black Weirdo EP the new record by Philly-based producer and sound designer Kilamanzego, which was recently a Bandcamp album of the day. Stream and order it here

🎧 Polyvinyl released the new Jeff Rosenstock single HEALMODE from his upcoming record, HELLMODE, out September 1st. It’s “a soft song about change and relief” and features vocals from longtime friend and collaborator Laura Stevenson:

🎧 Paradise of Bachelors announced Shone a Rainbow Light On, the debut recording by Setting, “the ultimate stillness-and-stargazing record”, which sounds “like a UFO slowly sinking into a peat bog”. The album is out September 29th and available for pre-order here and in the meantime the band has shared Zoetropics, the first and only single from the album - stream it here

🎧 Kill Rock Stars announced the new Santa Chiara album, Imported, drops 20th October! Watch the official music video for Visa, the new single from it here

🎧 Keeled Scales announced No Ordinary Crown, the new album from prolific Texas songwriter Will Johnson, which “…hums with palpable motion, the songs conceived in stolen moments and brief windows of time between the responsibilities of family and a multi-hyphenate career.” Check out a track from it Sinker, Sinking here and pre-order the record, which comes out September 15th here

🎧 Don Giovanni shared the news that Teenage Halloween have a new album coming out on October 20th called Till You Return, recorded in Philly by Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Algernon Cadwallader, Dogs On Acid) no less. Check out their new double A-side single here

📖 Velocity Press announced a deadline of August 8th for pre-ordering (and getting your name printed inside) their upcoming book A Darker Electricity: The Origins of the Spiral Tribe Sound System by Mark Angelo Harrison, which charts the infamous sound system’s nomadic journey, the rapid escalation of their popularity and their arrest ahead of what would became one of the longest-running and most expensive cases in British legal history. NEW SIGNINGS

✍️ Weird Sister welcomed Enny Owl to their coven! The British born, LA based musician draws inspiration from celtic music to create a unique fantasy soundscape, using “…her rich, songbird vocals to tell stories of queer love, finding oneself, loss and more.” Her first single on the label Nicolette arrives August 8th - pre save it here

✍️ Ramp Local welcomed Tallahassee singer-songwriter Sarah Morrison to their family! Stream new single Gray Apples and pre-order her album Attachment Figure, which comes out October 13th and was co-produced with Ross Brand and Clayton Rychlik (both of Of Montreal and Locate S,1), here
