In a week where nature “officially” became a musician - which for the record, appears to be a better implementation of The Song That Plants Trees (At Artists’ Expense) - the IC community released tons of excellent music, announced tours, events and more!

Music Biz announced their annual #NEXTGEN_NOW summit will return in 2024 to “gather insights from tomorrow's industry leaders about best positioning yourself for success by leveraging current trends, navigating ever-changing corporate culture, and understanding the needs of tomorrow's music audiences”. It takes place 2:30-5pm on day one of their Nashville conference, which WE. WILL. BE. AT.
A2IM announced the official line-up of performers for the 2024 Libera Awards presented by Merlin! This year’s ceremony will be hosted by stand-up comedian and musician Marcia Belsky on Monday, June 10 at NYC’s Gotham Hall! If you still don’t have tickets, they’re available here.
NEW IC CATALOGS
A very warm 🤝 to…
Soul Clap Records, a Boston, Massachusetts based label owned by the DJ and production duo of the same name. The label releases the Dancing on the Charles series of albums, which compile various local artists.
Farmer & The Owl Records, a Wollongong, Australia based label owned by Ben Tillman and Jeb Taylor. Their first signing was Windang based Hockey Dad and they’ve since released records by Totally Unicorn, Mother & Son, The Pinheads, Tumbleweed, Charbel and more.

ALBUMS
🎧 Double Double Whammy released Water’s Here In You, the new record by New York duo Babehoven. The record has been getting rave reviews already, with Paste Magazine saying it’s “their richest, most grounded work yet” in their 8.5 review and calling them “a band with caring at its core.”
🎧 Polyvinyl released The Falls of Sioux, the new album from longtime Mike Kinsella solo project Owen. The new record “…finds the veteran songwriter exploring unlikely musical ideas, while lyrically the songs document a time of moving through life-altering turmoil into brighter days. Heavy themes are turned over with a gentle hand as Kinsella inhabits the deeper perspectives that come with hard-earned life experience.”
🎧 Kill Rock Stars released SOLO, the new record by Seattle-raised, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Joh Chase. Check out the official music video for lead single Avalanche.
🎧 Felte released Within/Without, the sophomore album by Oakland darkwave band Houses of Heaven, which “…explores a contrast between the fantasy worlds and unfiltered truths that define modern survival, and a yearning for genuine human connection brought on by the anxiety and isolation of technology.”
🎧 Joyful Noise released We Sang, Therefore We Were today, the solo debut album by drummer, composer and founding member of Deerhoof, Greg Saunier. Check out the video for lead single Grow Like a Plant.
🎧 Earth Libraries released Death and Texas the sophomore album by Austin band The Juniper Berries. Josh Stirm, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and lead singer of the band, said the record was inspired by the grief of losing his brother and grandfather in 2020, as well as the looming pandemic, which gave him “a broader understanding of what it means to love people and lose them”.

🎧 H1 Massive released Slower the latest single by baseball player turned musician Joey Wit, as well as the latest Vinyl Station single Answer Slow.
🎧 Keeled Scales shared Self-destructor by Austin indie rock quartet Good Looks, the second single from the upcoming record Lived Here For A While, out June 7th.
🎧 Double Double Whammy released I’m All Fucked Up, the new single from This Is Lorelei (the solo project of Nate Amos from Water From Your Eyes). The track is the second to be released from upcoming album Box for Buddy, Box for Star. Also: Rolling Stone recently profiled Nate as their latest Artist You Need To Know.
🎧 Pack Records released fall apart, the new track from Manchester born and London based musician Glimji.
REISSUES
🎧 Get Better Records released a fourth pressing of the Dazey and the Scouts record Maggot from 2017. $5 from each sale will be donated to direct on the ground aid for Palestinian refugees in Cairo, Egypt.
🎧 Polyvinyl are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Unclouded Sky by Xiu Xiu, a unique release that was previously only available as a Record Store Day exclusive pressing (which sold out immediately), with a reissue on White/Silver mix vinyl. The new pressing comes out May 3rd.
PRE-ORDERS
🎧 Merge announced Previous Industries, the collective of Open Mike Eagle, STILL RIFT and Video Dave, will drop their debut album Service Merchandise, on June 28th. In the meantime they’ve released a Jaws-inspired video for lead single Pliers, which you can watch here.
🎧 Fire Talk imprint Angel Tapes just shared news of its third release, which comes courtesy of Chicago noise rock duo Feller. The record, Universal Miracle Worker, comes out May 28th.
🎧 Earth Libraries announced that Rosie, the debut album by LA multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Kaycie Satterfield will come out July 12th. Check out her latest single in the meantime, a synth pop anthem called TV.
🎧 H1 Massive announced Deflect (After-Death RMX), a new single from Peruvian-born EDM artist CARV.R will arrive on May 10th.
🎧 2MR announced they’ll be putting BELIEVE, the upcoming debut record from Men Seni Suyemin (the alias of Kazakh artist Minona Volandova), “a collection of music that straddles the line between post-rock and electronica, utilising vocals, poetry and lyrics… to instill positivity into the listener”. You can check out lead single Dance Is Life now ahead of the album’s release on June 7th, which comes with a dance video directed and edited by Men Seni Suyemin, with help from her friends around the world.

✍️ ZZK announced their most recent signing - the Ecuadorian duo Cruzloma. Check out Plegaria, the first single from their upcoming album, Mitos & Ritos and watch a video about their musical identity here.
