🎓 IC Digest: Back To School Edition
Lurk in our new live classes. Plus, talkin' royalties with Other Record Labels, a new guide for upgrading from spreadsheets, and a goodbye/hello to Good Splits.
The IC Digest is back, baby!
Q1 is definitely royalty season, and we’ve got so much going on we’ve brought back this beloved format. Will it stick around?! Who knows, but this one’s a banger.
— Hunter, Infinite Catalog co-founder and person who liked Poor Things better than Killers of the Flower Moon, sorry!
Introducing IC Live Classes
Attention lurkers: starting next week, you can now see how Infinite Catalog makes royalties easier and more transparent in a casual way, with IC Live Classes.
In the past we’ve done our fair share of public webinars/demos/walkthroughs, and we’ve always been a little surprised at how many people attend, ask questions, and give us a try afterwards.
But it makes sense! Sometimes you want to put a time in your calendar to check something out, but you’re not quite ready for a 1:1… you just want to sit at the back of the class and maybe participate, with the option to bail at any time without ruffling any feathers.
So we’re now offering two different options for that, alternating every week: a Software Walkthrough, where you can see what all the fuss is about, and an Onboarding Tutorial, where you can see the setup process in action. Both are 25 minutes, and you can submit questions in advance, or of course ask them live – our friendly and knowledgeable crew will be happy to answer. See you in there.
OBLIGATORY REMINDER THAT THE Q1 SPECIAL IS BACK
We’ve made multiple versions of this graphic so you know it’s real.
That’s right, January signups get 50% off IC for three months, making this is the best time of year to upgrade to IC. We make zero guarantees this will be back next year so if you haven’t signed up to IC yet you might as well do it now - your collaborators, payees, wallet, stress levels, and future self will thank the brave version of current you.
Talkin’ Royalties, w/ Other Record Labels
Hunter was a guest on the Other Record Labels podcast this week, covering the IC origin story, why doing royalties in spreadsheets is holding you back, and all the benefits that come from using a proper software, like, I dunno, maybe IC.
Listen on Spotify/Apple Podcasts or watch on Youtube for maximum hand gestures.
Ready, Set, Royalties: A Guide To Upgrading Your Royalty Accounting From Spreadsheets
Speaking of doing royalties in spreadsheets holding you back, we created a new guide to help you fix that, including a free checklist + templates download.
Because we’re cool/confident/bad at capitalism the guide + download will help you upgrade from spreadsheets to proper software whether it’s IC or anyone else - we even link to a list of every single competitor we know about. Check it out!
Good Splits Says Goodbye, We Say Hello
Good Splits, the heroic free tool that helped folks calculate over $70m in royalties over the years (coincidentally the same number we did in 2023), has sadly closed their banana-shaped doors for good. Their noble quest to help artists continues through their music management company Good Folk, and their equally noble quest to help build and run digital products (we have a lot in common!) continues at Coalesce.
We both wanted Good Splits users to have a leg up transitioning somewhere else, so we’re giving all former Good Splits user a standing discount* (*not to be combined with the Q1 Special or other discounts, don’t even try it!!).
IC does everything Good Splits did, plus a whole lot more, and we are famously affordable for catalogs of any size and at any stage. If you’re a former Good Splits user (or anyone else), check us out to see why people say such nice, barely prompted things about us.
That’s it! Till next time,
Hunter, Adam, and the Infinite Catalog crew
